Practicums
We provide hands-on ministry opportunities in the marketplace, on the mission field, and at local churches. Full-time BA students receive 500 hours of hands-on supervised ministry practicums (8 hours per week).
All student ministry practicums are under the direct supervision of a practicum leader, who is responsible for teaching guiding, and evaluating the student's ministry experience. First and second-year undergraduates also participate in SUM's Annual Mardi Gras Outreach during the Winter trimester.
Internships
SUM’s mission is to provide hands-on ministry opportunities in the marketplace, mission field and local church. Student work alongside an Internship Leader who is approved by our Cohort Director, who will guide the student to develop a Senior Year Project demonstrative of the student’s call of God and/or course concentration (3 credits). The process requires that 3rd year undergrad students:
-
Propose a Senior Year Project that expresses the student’s calling
-
Collaborate with an Internship Leader about 4 hours/week
-
Submit weekly reports, and the end of trimester the Senior Year Project.
Mardi Gras Outreach
Each year, our students join fellow students from across our nation to converge on the city of New Orleans and participate in a memorable 6-day conference and street evangelism outreach.
Students are impacted by the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, and preaching of God’s Word by dynamic Visionary Leaders. In the evening, they take to the streets and shae their faith with the lost.
